We provide a self-serve breakfast for our guests comprising of a selection of quality cereals and fresh home-made bread accompanied with a choice of spreads; juice, milk, tea and fresh ground coffee. Breakfast is laid out on the dresser in the dining room and in the kitchen and we tidy everything away afterwards. Breakfast is available from 7.30am - 9.30am. Tea, coffee, milk and sugar are available all day.
The guest kitchen is a great asset for our guests who wish to self-cater or even just prepare a snack; they can prepare packed meals or provide a full dinner with all the facilities and equipment required . Guests are asked to eat in the dining room and clear away after their meal for the convenience of other guests.
If guests wish to bring their own food and drink supplies, they can store them in their own dedicated areas of the food cupboards and fridge. There is also a freezer available. We are in a remote area with no supermarket and the two local shops shut at 6pm, earlier on Sundays and off season so it may be wise to bring some food and drink essentials for the first night at least. However, one of the delights of visiting the Ross of Mull is finding local suppliers who provide sustainable and organic produce. It takes more time, but it is often a better way of eating. Suppliers include free range eggs and organic vegetables at Crofters Kitchen, Kintra; fish and shellfish from Neil Jardine on Iona; lamb, beef and venison from Knockvologan Farm, Ardanalish Farm and Pennygael Estate.
For eating out there is a small but high-quality choice of eateries in Bunessan, Fionnphort and Iona.
