Achaban House

Achaban House is south facing, sitting in 6 acres of grounds, overlooking pretty Loch Pottie (Loch Poit na h-l meaning Pot of Iona) which is home to otters, brown trout and many species of birds. The house was built as a manse in 1846 of the local Ross of Mull red granite and has a lot of character and many appealing traditional features. The standing stone in the garden adds a further intriguing link with the past.

The village of Fionnphort is one mile away and the surrounding coastline is famed for white sand beaches with outcrops of red granite.  Fidden beach, one of the most striking beaches in the area is just two miles away.  The 10 minute ferry journey to Iona departs from Fionnphort, perfect for a day trip to the island.  Boat tours to the Treshnish Isles also depart from Fionnphort; a visit to Lunga to see the puffins or to Staffa to visit Fingal’s cave are very special trips.

Fresh seafood caught around the waters of the Sound of Iona is landed at Fionnphort and is readily available at the seafood bar on the Pier and two excellent restaurants in the village.

The Ross of Mull is unspoiled, with a rich natural landscape; a popular destination for walkers, cyclists, rock climbers, botanists, geologists, bird watchers and other outdoor enthusiasts.
